la propagande française
aux États-Unis
(1914-1917)
The Foreign Office having given no instruction to his ambassador in Washington, Jules Jusserand, the later observed an attitude of restraint and dignity.
He was convinced the Americans wished to reach their own opinion by themselves on the basis of clear and incontrovertible information. But restraint does not mean inaction.
Jusserand shows himself quite active during that period. His reserved attitude certainly contributed to the positive image American public opinion retained of France. Americans were to be for a long time thankful for his conduct.
